Peter Hill-Wood, the former chairman of Arsenal football club, has passed away at the age of 82.
Everyone at the Premier League offers sincere condolences to the Hill-Wood family.
Peter followed in the footsteps of his father, Denis, and his grandfather, Samuel, as the third generation of his family to serve as Arsenal chairman.
After succeeding his father in 1982, Peter remained chairman of the Gunners for 31 years.
During that time he oversaw the recruitment of title-winning managers George Graham and Arsene Wenger and was instrumental in the club's relocation from Highbury to Emirates Stadium.
He also played an important role in the formation of the Premier League in 1992 and consistently supported the League's growth over many years.
Our thoughts are with Peter's family and friends at this sad time.
To mark his passing, Arsenal and Liverpool will each wear black armbands during their encounter at Anfield on Saturday evening.
