Leaders Manchester City are aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign as they host Southampton, who have played out goalless draws in their last two matches.

Team News

Manchester City will be without Kevin De Bruyne for around six weeks after he suffered a knee injury against Fulham in EFL Cup action on Thursday.

Also out is Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Ilkay Gundogan (fitness) and the match also probably comes too soon for Nicolas Otamendi (knock).

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (illness) returns for Southampton who have announced a clean bill of health for their visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Did you know?

Manchester City have won seven of their last nine Premier League meetings with Southampton, drawing one and losing one.

Both of Man City’s PL victories over Southampton last season came courtesy of added-time winners. Raheem Sterling scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the home match and Gabriel Jesus struck in the fourth minute of time added on in the final match of the season at St Mary's Stadium.

City are aiming to keep a clean sheet in a seventh consecutive league match for the first time in their history.

Ederson, who has kept a clean sheet in his last six PL starts, can become the first goalkeeper to make it seven in a row since Edwin van der Sar achieved a run of 14 for Manchester United in 2008/09.
