Southampton v Chelsea

Substitute Olivier Giroud scored twice as Chelsea rallied from two goals down to beat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary’s Stadium.

Mark Hughes’ side looked set to be moving out of the bottom three when Dusan Tadic and Jan Bednarek gave them a two-goal lead, but three strikes in less than nine minutes condemned them to defeat.

Tadic struck on 21 minutes from Ryan Bertrand's cutback.

The Blues were two behind on the hour when James Ward-Prowse crossed for Bednarek to score on his first PL start for Saints.

Giroud replaced Alvaro Morata and headed Chelsea back in contention from Marcos Alonso’s 70th-minute cross.

Five minutes later Willian teed up Eden Hazard to level and the comeback was complete when Giroud struck again.

Chelsea lie fifth on 60 points while Southampton stay third from bottom with 28 points.
