Eden Hazard may not be fit for the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season after Chelsea confirmed the player had an operation today on an ankle fractured in training with the Belgian national team.
The forward was one of Chelsea’s stars of their title-winning campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists.

"Eden Hazard successfully underwent surgery today after sustaining a fracture to his right ankle while training with the Belgian national team,” a statement on chelseafc.com said. “He is expected to return to training in approximately three months.”

The 2017/18 season will begin on the weekend of 12 August.
Chelsea will find out who they open their Premier League title defence against when the 2017/18 fixtures are released on Wednesday 14 June, 9am BST.
