Arsenal are hoping to build on their opening-day win against Newcastle United. Burnley also won in Matchweek 1 and hope for a first Premier League victory over the Gunners.

Team news

Nicolas Pepe is pushing for a full Premier League debut with Arsenal head coach Unai Emery impressed by the summer signing's progression in training.

Mesut Ozil has recovered from sickness and Rob Holding is also back in training after a long-term knee injury. Granit Xhaka (knock) will be assessed though and may miss out along with Hector Bellerin (knee), Kieran Tierney and Dinos Mavropanos (both groin).

For Burnley, Charlie Taylor has been passed fit after missing the win over Southampton. But Robbie Brady (rib) and Steven Defour (knee and calf) remain out.

Danny Drinkwater will also not feature at Emirates Stadium as the loan signing from Chelsea continues to build up his fitness.

Did you know?

In the Premier League, Arsenal have won their last nine matches against Burnley. They have only had longer runs against Manchester City (11 between 1994 and 2004) and Newcastle (10 between 2012 and 2017).

Burnley have never won both of their opening two matches of a Premier League season before, last doing so in the top flight in 1973/74.

Arsenal are looking to kick off a Premier League campaign with two consecutive victories for the first time since 2009/10, when they beat Everton and Portsmouth.

Among the 56 players who have played 10 or more Premier League matches for Burnley, Nick Pope is the only one to have won more matches than he has lost for the Clarets in the competition. The goalkeeper has 14 wins and 11 defeats.
