A UEFA Champions League hat-trick from Sergio Aguero (£13.0m) continued Manchester City's perfect start under Pep Guardiola.

Suspended from domestic duties until Gameweek 6, the Argentina international returned to lead the line against Borussia Monchengladbach as Kelechi Iheanacho (£7.0m) dropped to the bench.

David Silva (£8.9m) missed the 4-0 win as a precaution, allowing Ilkay Gundogan (£5.4m) his first appearance for Guardiola's side. Stationed alongside Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m) in central midfield, the German was brought down for the penalty that led to Aguero's second.

Raheem Sterling (£8.3m) and Aleksandar Kolarov (£5.9m) supplied an assist apiece, as did Leroy Sane (£7.8m), who emerged from the bench to tee up fellow sub Iheanacho.

Guardiola's decision to rest Nolito (£9.0m) suggests he may start against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday as the City head coach utilises his squad to cope with the busy schedule.

Aguero's continued scoring form issues a stark warning to his former FPL owners who sold him on following his suspension; he will be back in contention for the visit to Swansea City.

Elsewhere, Leicester City chalked up a convincing win on their UEFA Champions League debut.

Marc Albrighton (£5.3m) opened the scoring in a 3-0 victory over Club Brugge before fellow winger Riyad Mahrez (£9.4m) bagged a brace, including a free-kick and converted spot-kick, both awarded for fouls on Jamie Vardy (£9.9m).

The Algerian had missed three of his previous four but assumed responsibility, despite Claudio Ranieri commenting post-match that club-record signing Islam Slimani (£8.5m) was his preferred penalty taker.

The Foxes manager made two changes from the weekend loss at Liverpool.

In defence, Luis Hernandez (£4.4m) replaced Danny Simpson (£5.0m), with Slimani preferred to Shinji Okazaki (£5.9m) in attack as the Foxes moved from 4-4-1-1 to 4-4-2.

Dele Alli has a shot on goal against Monaco at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disappointing start to their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Monaco at Wembley Stadium.

Rested for the weekend win at Stoke City, Erik Lamela (£7.1m) returned to the XI and provided the assist for Toby Alderweireld's (£6.5m) consolation.

Son Heung-min (7.4m) retained his starting berth on the left flank after firing two goals and providing an assist at the bet365 stadium.

Dele Alli (£8.3m), who found the net and produced five attempts inside the box on Saturday, moved out of the central support role behind Harry Kane (£10.9m) and was stationed in the double-pivot to accommodate Lamela's return.

Despite failing to find the net, Alli and Kane boasted most of Spurs' goal threat on Wednesday night, firing four shots apiece.

Mauricio Pochettino's teamsheet for the visit of Sunderland on Sunday will be of keen interest. The Spurs manager often rotated his full-backs following UEFA Europa League ties last season. A similar policy could be applied this time around and perhaps extended to his midfield.
