Francesco Guidolin had one spell of management in the Premier League after the Italian managed Swansea City from January 2016 to October of the same year.

Guidolin began his managerial career in Italy's lower leagues and had a brief stint at Atalanta before guiding Vicenza to promotion to the Italian top flight in 1994/95.

In their first season under Guidolin in Serie A Vicenza finished mid-table and in the following campign they won their first major trophy, the Coppa Italia, qualifying them for the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

They enjoyed a run all the way to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals where they were beaten by Premier League side Chelsea.

Guidolin counts Udinese, Bologna and Palermo among the clubs he helped consolidate their status in Serie A and he also spent a season in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco.

He returned to Udinese in the summer of 2010 where he enjoyed a successful spell, guiding them to fourth, third and fifth place in successive Serie A campaigns as well as reaching the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League during the 2011/12 season.

In 2011, the Italian won the 'Panchina d'Oro' - awarded to the best head coach in Serie A.

He left his coaching position in June 2014 but stayed at Udinese in a consultancy role as a technical supervisor.

Guidolin was appointed head coach of Swansea until the end of the season on 18 January 2016 with the club sat in 18th place in the Premier League with four wins from 21 matches in 2015/16.

The Italian quickly reversed their fortunes and oversaw victories against Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United to finish the campaign in 12th position.

At the end of the 2015/16 campaign, Guidolin signed a two-year deal to stay on as Swansea head coach, but he departed the club on 3 October 2016 with the Swans in 17th position.
