The Scout says Man Utd midfielder can provide strong value in 2023/24 Fantasy

Manchester United's Mason Mount (£7.0m) has the all-round potential to offer managers strong value in 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League.

The midfielder endured a disappointing final season at Chelsea in 2022/23, scoring three goals and supplying four assists to collect 82 points.

That fares poorly when assessed with his 2021/22 displays for the Blues, when he combined 11 goals with 11 assists for his career-high haul of 169 points.

However, the tactics of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag can help Mount get back to his best this season.

A share of set-piece duties?

The England international is expected to play alongside Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) as a central attacking midfielder in Ten Hag’s 4-1-2-3 formation.

He is also very likely to share set-piece duties with the Portuguese.

While Fernandes took 83 of Man Utd's corners in 2022/23, Christian Eriksen (£6.0m) was also heavily involved and took 62. But with the Dane now set to drop out of the starting XI, Mount is likely to gain a share of corners and free-kicks.

Mount has been overlooked since Fantasy launched on Wednesday and is found in a mere 8.9 per cent of squads.

By contrast, his new midfield team-mates Fernandes and Marcus Rashford (£9.0m) have proven far more popular and are owned by 23 and 38 per cent respectively.

Certainly, it remains to be seen whether Mount can emerge as Man Utd’s go-to player in 2023/24, with Rashford their most appealing pick on the back of his career-high 205 points last season.

Nonetheless, at a cost of just £7.0m, Mount's potential for goals and assists can establish him as a major source of value in midfield for 2023/24 Fantasy.
