Hudson-Odoi named January PL2 Player of the Month

Tyrese Campbell has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February.

The 18-year-old forward scored five times in Stoke City's two PL2 Division 2 matches in the month, inspiring wins over Middlesbrough and Fulham.

He finished February as Division 2's top scorer with 12 goals for the season. Campbell's performances also earned him a Premier League debut as a substitute at Leicester City.

After being on the shortlist for the January player of the month, he was pleased to claim the prize this time round.

"It's an honour to finally get the award," he said. "This month, I've just carried on doing what I do - scoring goals, and I've made my debut and I've finally got it so, I'm buzzing.

"It's a great experience [playing for the first team] but I just try to not pay too much attention to it, and just carry on because it's just the first step of what I want to achieve."

Campbell was picked by the Premier League Football Development Panel, from a five-man shortlist that also featured Marcus Browne, Tahith Chong, Lewis Hardcastle, Reece James and Lewis Walker.

The son of Kevin Campbell will one day hope to match his dad's feat of winning the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award, which he claimed in April 1999, playing for Everton.
