Despite losing West Ham United pair Dimitri Payet (£9.4million) and Andy Carroll (£6.4m) to injury, the Scout Selection from Gameweek 2 still earned a credible 69 points - 12 above the Fantasy Premier League average.
Looking ahead to this weekend, we have recalled several names that have previously served us well.
Goalkeeper
That policy begins in goal, as we retain West Bromwich Albion’s Ben Foster (£4.6m).
The Baggies stopper shipped two against Everton last weekend but we are showing faith in him again ahead of the Hawthorns meeting with Middlesbrough. With a strict £83.0m budget to work with, Foster looks the best stopper option for less than £5.0m.
Defenders
Value also plays a part in the selection of John Terry (£5.5m). The Chelsea skipper’s start may eventually come under threat but, for Gameweek 3, he seems certain to be on Antonio Conte’s teamsheet for Burnley’s visit.
The Clarets will likely prioritise a rearguard action at Stamford Bridge, promoting the chances of a first Chelsea clean sheet of the season. Terry is the cheapest option in Conte’s back line and offers an attacking threat at set-plays.
As do both Scott Dann (£5.5m) of Crystal Palace and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk (£5.5m).
The pair offer the promise of clean sheets against AFC Bournemouth and Sunderland respectively and, as we have highlighted this week, are a handful as they battle to get on the end of dead-ball deliveries.
Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin (£6.5m) rounds off a back four. An expensive option but one bristling with attacking promise down the right.
The Spaniard will face a Watford outfit that has registered just 11 attempts on goal, fewer than any other Premier League side.
Midfielders
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard (£10.1m) keeps his place in our three-man midfield. An assist at Watford kept his tally ticking over after a Gameweek 1 penalty and he has to be backed for further profit against Burnley.
Equally, Nathan Redmond’s (£6.1m) potential as part of Claude Puel’s front two against Sunderland cannot be ignored.
Everton’s Ross Barkley (£7.7m) completes our midfield. Having returned a goal and an assist so far, he looks to be the most assured cover of the Toffees attack in their Goodison Park meeting with Stoke City.
Forwards
In attack, there is currently little incentive to look beyond the Manchester duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£11.7m) and Sergio Aguero (£13.1m).
Both have displayed irresistible form and are now installed in over 900,000 FPL squads as a pairing; again, we are sticking with Aguero as our skipper for his Etihad Stadium ecounter against West Ham United on Sunday.
West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon (£6.5m) completes our XI. The Venezuelan is the most likely to trouble the Middlesbrough back line; in the goals in Gameweek 1, he looks the best option in the mid-price bracket this weekend.
