Harry Maguire believes the 2017 Premier League Asia Trophy will give Leicester City an advantage in their preparation for the new season.

This is because the four-team tournament, which kicks off at the Hong Kong Stadium on 19 July, is for the first time being contested solely by Premier League clubs.

"When you're playing Premier League opposition it gets you ready for the first game of the season; you get ready for the tempo," says Maguire, whose Leicester team open the Premier League season at Arsenal on Friday 11 August.

"Playing a Premier League game makes you feel like you're ready for the season ahead, playing against players that you’re similar to, who you are going to be playing against for the first game of the season."

Leicester start the tournament against West Bromwich Albion on 19 July, before meeting one of Crystal Palace or Liverpool three days later.

"Playing for any trophy, you want to win it," says the summer signing from Hull City.

"I'm sure there'll be numerous changes during the games as this will be our first pre-season game but it'll definitely be one that will be really competitive, everyone will be fully raring to go."
