The Scout’s FPL Gameweek 24 Ones to watch

The Scout is tipping four low-owned players for a breakthrough Gameweek in 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League. Each player can be found in under two per cent of squads ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline.

Taiwo Awoniyi (Nott’m Forest) £6.3m

The Nottingham Forest forward has been quick to rediscover his form since returning from injury.

In Gameweek 22, Awoniyi marked his first appearance since Gameweek 12 with a goal off the bench against Arsenal. He now looks set for a run of starts, with team-mate Chris Wood (£4.9m) now sidelined through injury.

Awoniyi was among the most consistent forwards in Fantasy at the start of 2023/24, delivering attacking returns in each of the opening five Gameweeks.

Back-to-back home encounters with Newcastle United and West Ham United lift his prospects of returning to that early-season form for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Ross Barkley (Luton) £4.9m

The midfielder has been a standout performer in the budget bracket in Fantasy since securing a regular role for Luton Town.

Barkley has scored three goals and supplied four assists in his last nine appearances, with his total of seven attacking returns his best since his 2018/19 season at Everton.

From Gameweek 10, Barkley has produced team-high totals of 34 shots and 23 key passes, underlining his huge influence on their attack.

A home match against Sheffield United, followed by their Double Gameweek 25 against Manchester United and Liverpool, makes Barkley the ideal cut-price enabler for managers who are needing to free up funds to bring in Erling Haaland (£14.2m).

The midfielder will also benefit from a second Double Gameweek, visiting Crystal Palace and then AFC Bournemouth in Gameweek 28.

Neal Maupay (Brentford) £4.9m

A return to his former club Brentford appears to have revived the Frenchman’s prospects in Fantasy.

Maupay has five goals and three assists since making his first start of the season for the Bees in Gameweek 9. Notably, the return to action of Ivan Toney (£8.1m) has been a big factor, with Maupay scoring in each of the last three Gameweeks alongside his fellow forward.

Brentford’s upcoming schedule gives their key attackers the chance to get more goals and assists. Not only do they have a DGW25, they also have a match in Blank Gameweek 26 and Blank Gameweek 29.

At a cost of £4.9m, Maupay could be a canny pick as a big source of value in Fantasy to help managers navigate the upcoming period.

Timothy Castagne (Fulham) £4.5m

Fulham’s Belgian boasts strong potential at both ends of the pitch ahead of a kind run of home matches.

Castagne entertains AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion over the next four Gameweeks.

Marco Silva’s side have proven a reliable source of clean sheets at Craven Cottage of late, keeping three in their last five contests.

Castagne has also impressed in attack recently. Indeed, his five shots in the box in the last four Gameweeks placed joint-top among all defenders in Fantasy.

Crucially, Fulham also have a home encounter with Spurs in BGW29, which is one of only two matches currently set to take place due to FA Cup postponements.
