The Scout looks at players expected to progress and make a big impact in 2019/20 Fantasy Premier League.

Miguel Almiron (NEW) £6.0m

The playmaker's performances for Newcastle United in the second half of 2018/19 hint at what may follow this season.

Having signed for the Magpies from Atlanta United in January, Almiron made his first start in Gameweek 27.

The Paraguayan managed only two assists over his 10 appearances before sustaining a hamstring injury in Gameweek 35.

However, his statistics show that he is a big goal threat.

Shooting star

Between Gameweeks 27 to 35, Almiron produced 19 shots, with 12 from inside the penalty area and eight on target.

This record fares well when assessed against his FPL rivals in this period.

Of players in the 2019/20 game, only Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) and Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) bettered Almiron for all three statistics.

New formation

A consideration when assessing Newcastle's attacking options in the upcoming season is their new 3-4-2-1 formation.

Ayoze Perez (£6.5m) played alongside Almiron in a support role and has been classified as a midfielder for the 2019/20 campaign.

As midfielders, Almiron and Perez earn an extra point for every goal and claim an additional point for clean sheets.

Having finished the season with eight goals in the final nine Gameweeks, Perez may well be the more popular pick initially.

However, the statistics show both players offered a very similar threat over that GW27-35 period, with Perez recording only three more shots on goal than the Paraguayan.

And with Almiron continuing at a cost of £6.0m, he could provide great value if he can deliver on his goal threat.
