Spurs striker claims February prize for stunning scorpion kick against Man City

Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has won February’s Guinness Goal of the Month award for his sensational scorpion kick in Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Having also been named as the Adobe Creative Moment of the Month winner, Solanke’s acrobatic effort has now earned him two separate awards for February.

Spurs had trailed 2-0 at half-time in the match against Man City on 1 February before Solanke scored twice in 17 second-half minutes to earn his side an unlikely point.

After capitalising on a loose ball on the right, Conor Gallagher whipped in a cross at pace towards Solanke. With the ball set to flash behind him, Solanke brilliantly raised his right boot behind his back to flick the ball over an outstretched Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal, whose slight touch wasn’t enough to prevent the stunning finish levelling proceedings.

Solanke is the first Spurs player to win the Goal of the Month award since Erik Lamela for his famous rabona against Arsenal in March 2021.
