There is a major challenger to Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) for the Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3 captaincy.

Sergio Aguero (£11.1m) showed last weekend why he can be the most devastating armband pick in the entire game.

Three goals and an assist in the 6-1 win over Huddersfield Town have earned Aguero more than 466,000 transfers in for this weekend's trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That has taken Aguero to over 43 per cent ownership, second only to the 54.4 per cent of Salah.

A look beyond the points strengthens Aguero's case for the armband.

The Manchester City striker's total of 12 shots on goal is more than any other player over the first two Gameweeks.

And he faces a Wolves defence who have conceded two goals in each of their opening matches.

Time for Arsenal?

A tough start to the season meant many managers overlooked Arsenal players for the captaincy.

But with matches against Man City and Chelsea out of the way, the north Londoners are now at home to West Ham United

The Hammers’ totals of 335 shots faced and 42 goals conceded away from home last season were more than any other side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's (£11.0m) record at Emirates Stadium boosts his cause.

Seven of his 10 goals and three of his four assists last season came in home matches.

But Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.1m) has overshadowed him under new head coach Unai Emery.

The Armenian produced 12 points at Stamford Bridge last weekend thanks to a goal and an assist.

Trust a defender?

Marcos Alonso (£6.6m) offers a big-hitting option in defence for Chelsea’s trip to Newcastle United.

His run of back-to-back double-figure points hauls is matched only by Sadio Mane (£9.8m) over the opening two Gameweeks.

Alonso has delivered 24 points, combining a goal, two assists and a clean sheet with five bonus points.
