There aren't many stadiums where Manchester City struggle in the Premier League, but Anfield is certainly one.

In fact, it is the ground where they perform the WORST, which could be a crucial factor in Sunday's huge top-of-the-table showdown.

The champions' last success at Liverpool's home came in February 2021, and that is their only victory there in SEVEN league visits since Pep Guardiola was appointed City's manager in the summer of 2016.

But City's difficult run at Anfield goes back well before Guardiola's arrival. Across their 26 Premier League trips to Anfield, City have recorded only TWO wins.

Seventeen of those meetings have ended in defeat for City, who have only claimed seven draws there.

In total, City get 0.5 points per game (PPG) at Anfield, their lowest average out of all the stadiums they have visited at least 10 times in the Premier League.

Can Pep have the final word?

Since Guardiola joined City, he and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp have had very similar records in their head-to-heads.

In the 15 league encounters between the two bosses, Guardiola has come out on top five times and Klopp on four occasions, while the pair have shared six draws - including in three of the last five meetings.

But only one of Guardiola's five wins has come at Anfield, and last season Klopp came out on top in this fixture, as Mohamed Salah scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.

With Klopp's reign now nearing its end, and given the importance of Sunday's title duel as he prepares to meet Guardiola for the final time in the Premier League, it is likely to be harder than ever for City to quieten the Anfield crowd.
