Conor Gallagher came off the bench to score a last-minute winner as Chelsea edged to a 3-2 victory over Leeds United in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues bounced back from their EFL Cup final loss at Wembley Stadium last Sunday against Liverpool to book a quarter-final spot with Leicester City, who beat them in the 2021 FA Cup final.

Mateo Joseph struck twice for Leeds, including the opener, but Chelsea hit back through Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk, before Gallagher settled the tie.

In the evening’s other fixtures, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers earned 1-0 wins over Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

Meanwhile, Liverpool kept their quadruple hopes alive with a comfortable 3-0 home success over Southampton to set up a huge quarter-final meeting with Man Utd.

What do the results mean for Premier League fixtures?

Several Matchweek 29 fixtures have been postponed due to quarter-final ties being played on the weekend of 16-17 March. Chelsea’s trip to Arsenal, Man Utd’s home match with Sheffield United, Wolves’ meeting with AFC Bournemouth and the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool will all now be rescheduled.

Chelsea win five-goal thriller

Mauricio Pochettino made several changes to the side beaten by Liverpool, leaving the likes of Cole Palmer and Ben Chilwell on the bench, while Robert Sanchez, Alfie Gilchrist, Trevoh Chalobah, Mudryk and Noni Madueke were named in the starting XI.

And they fell behind in the eighth minute, when a defensive error allowed Joseph to score his first senior goal for Leeds.

Jackson made it 1-1 with a low strike from Moises Caicedo's pass, before Mudryk gave Chelsea the lead shortly before half-time.

Leeds were the better side after the break and were rewarded with an equaliser as Joseph grabbed his second with a header at the back post just before the hour.

Chelsea pressed for a winner which eventually came after Enzo Fernandez and Gallagher combined for the latter to fire in.

Next up for Chelsea is a Premier League London derby as they travel to Brentford on Saturday.

Man Utd leave it late

Casemiro's 89th-minute header was enough for Man Utd to see off Nott'm Forest at the City Ground.

The Brazilian turned in a free-kick from Bruno Fernandes for his first Man Utd goal since September.

Erik ten Hag's side will now turn their attentions back to the league as they prepare for a Manchester derby trip to Man City on Sunday.

Youngsters star again for Liverpool

Jayden Danns scored twice and Lewis Koumas also netted as Liverpool eased past Championship side Southampton.

Jayden Danns

Aged 18 years and 162 days, Koumas, the son of former West Bromwich Albion player Jason, became the fourth-youngest player to score on his debut for the club, when he struck a minute before the break at Anfield.

In the 63rd minute, Danns replaced Koumas before taking only 10 minutes top open his account for the club after receiving a pass from Harvey Elliott and then dinking Southampton goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

Danns added his second two minutes from time when converting on the rebound after Conor Bradley's initial effort was saved.

Liverpool are next in action against Forest on Saturday as they bid to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Lemina sends Wolves through

Mario Lemina scored the only goal as Wolves beat Brighton.

Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele spilled a Jean-Ricner Bellegarde cross and Lemina was on hand to slide in at the back post and convert after only two minutes played.

The victory looked to have come at a cost however, as Hwang Hee-chan was forced off in the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Wolves' next match is at Newcastle, while Brighton face Fulham. Both fixtures take place on Saturday.
