What is the Free Hit chip in FPL and how can it help now?

The midweek FA Cup fifth-round matches have had a big impact on how managers shape their plans for the upcoming period in Fantasy Premier League.

Each of the sides who have progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup will be unable to play their Premier League fixture in Gameweek 29, which happens on the same weekend. These clubs will have a "Blank Gameweek 29" (BGW29) in FPL, with their players scoring zero points in Fantasy.

There will be only FOUR Premier League fixtures taking place in BGW29, with all eight sides involved already being eliminated from the FA Cup. BGW29 will be a popular time to play the Free Hit chip to help navigate the reduced schedule.

BGW29 fixtures
Burnley v Brentford
Fulham v Spurs
Luton v Nott'm Forest
West Ham v Aston Villa

Six Premier League fixtures that were due to take place in Gameweek 29 have been postponed, because the teams in bold below will be playing in the FA Cup quarter-finals instead that weekend.
