The Scout assesses the best way to invest in clubs who will play twice in Double Gameweek 25 (DGW25) of Fantasy Premier League.

Brentford

Brentford’s unique upcoming schedule lifts the appeal of investing in their players in Fantasy.

The Bees are among four sides set to play twice in DGW25, facing Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, they are currently the ONLY one of the DGW25 sides who are also scheduled to play in both Blank Gameweek 26 and Blank Gameweek 29, as they are already out of the FA Cup.

Who’s impressed since Toney returned?

The return of Ivan Toney (£8.2m) from suspension in the last four Gameweeks has been significant for Thomas Frank’s side.

Toney has scored three goals and supplied an assist to collect a team-leading 26 points, with just a single blank in that period.

His fellow forward Neal Maupay (£4.9m) has matched those three goals and one blank over the same period, scoring against Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Man City.

Goalkeeper Mark Flekken (£4.5m), meanwhile, has produced his two highest hauls of 2023/24 in the last two Gameweeks. He has made 17 saves in those encounters and collected five of his 17 points this way.

Left wing-back Sergio Reguilon (£4.4m) has also offered major value, claiming a 12-point total against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend thanks to an assist, a clean sheet and three bonus points.

Who has the greatest goal threat?

The underlying numbers show the Bees’ reliance on strikers Toney and Maupay in their 3-5-2 formation.

They occupy the top two slots for all goal threat statistics, with Maupay bettering Toney by eight shots in the box to seven, while matching his six shots on target.

Nonetheless, it is Toney who has had the better-quality chances. His total of six big chances is not only twice the three of Maupay, it is more than any other player in Fantasy over this stretch.

Ben Mee (£4.8m) has boasted the main threat among Brentford's defenders, scoring his second goal of 2023/24 against Nott’m Forest.

The centre-back has produced all his attacking returns this season – two goals and an assist – in his last eight appearances.

Brentford’s main goal threats
Player Shots Shots in box Big chances Shots on target Goal conversion
Toney 10 7 6 6 30.0%
Maupay 8 8 3 6 37.5%
Norgaard 4 3 2 2 25.0%
Lewis-Potter 3 3 2 1 0.0%
Mee 3 2 1 1 33.3%
Who has been the best creator?

Mathias Jensen’s (£5.4m) dead-ball duties are vital to Brentford’s potential.

He has taken 13 of their 21 corners in the last four Gameweeks, producing a team-high five key passes.

Crucially, the Bees boast a huge threat from set-pieces, with their total of 102 shots in such situations the third-best in the league.

Jensen’s average of 58 minutes per key pass is twice as quick as his nearest rival, centre-back Nathan Collins (£4.5m).

The duo, along with Maupay and Christian Norgaard (£5.3m), are tied on two big chances created.

Brentford's main creators
Player Key passes Big chances created Mins/key pass Corner-kicks Free-kicks
Jensen 5 2 58 13 4
Collins 3 2 116 0 0
Norgaard 2 2 132 0 0
Maupay 2 2 43 0 0
So, who are the best Brentford picks?

Toney’s dominance of big chances make him the standout Brentford pick.

His ownership of just eight per cent hands managers in Fantasy an in-form option with the form and fixtures to reward investment for many Gameweeks to come.

Maupay’s output alongside Toney suggests he could be the next-best option, particularly for managers needing to free up funds for midfield big-hitters.

Brentford seem unlikely to earn any clean sheets against Liverpool and Man City, which dents the appeal of their defenders.

But Flekken’s potential for save points, at least, give him the advantage here and his cost of only £4.5m, combined with Brentford’s schedule, can make him a handy asset for those on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
