Running the line in the Premier League, having also refereed matches in the Women’s Super League, Sian Massey-Ellis is happy to be a pioneer for female officials.

The 31-year-old was awarded an MBE for services to football in the New Year’s Honours list and she is keen to keep inspiring young women.

“I find that you stand out sometimes for the right reasons, so as long as I keep doing my job then hopefully it doesn’t matter that I’m a woman,” she told Sky Sports.

“Hopefully, I’m changing some people’s mindsets. I’d like to think that even if I inspire one or two girls to take up the whistle or flag then I’ve done a good job.”
