The Scout's panel of experts give their verdicts on who managers should captain ahead of the Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 1 deadline of 18:30 BST on Friday 13 August.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is the best option this week and is the second most-owned player in Fantasy, found in over 50 per cent of squads.
While other players will do well, I feel comfortable not going for a differential in Gameweek 1.

Salah has never failed to score in an opening-weekend fixture during his time at Liverpool. Indeed, Liverpool have always scored at least three goals in every opening-weekend match under Jurgen Klopp. I can't see beyond Salah for the armband.

I made the mistake of not captaining Salah early last season and never really recovered. The armband is firmly on the Egyptian.

Salah against promoted Norwich City is the obvious option and it would be brave to go against him, given how he started last term.
Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) is also a good shout against Leeds United, who have conceded a lot of goals in pre-season.

It has to be Salah for me. I will say, though, that other Liverpool players have been looking very good in pre-season, including Sadio Mane (£12.0m) and Diogo Jota (£7.5m), while Roberto Firmino (£9.0m) scored a couple of goals against Osasuna.

It's looking like Fernandes for Gameweek 1. Leeds may not be as open as they were for parts of last season but Manchester United should still be able to create some chances and the Portuguese will likely be at the heart of them.

I'm sure I'm not adding any variety to the debate by going with Salah. It just doesn't make sense to bet against one of the most consistent FPL scorers ever up against a promoted team struggling with illness.

While Norwich's defence have improved from their last Premier League spell, Salah's upside is too high to ignore to start off the season.
