FPL Gameweek 3 Ones to watch

A goal and assist against West Bromwich Albion have made James Rodriguez (£7.6m) a top target for Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League.

More than 635,000 managers have now brought in the Everton playmaker for his visit to Crystal Palace, making him the second most-bought midfielder ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

Rodriguez's creativity will be a big threat for the Toffees at Selhurst Park.

His total of seven key passes this season ranks second among all players in FPL, and his share of dead-ball duties could be decisive.

Palace have conceded nine shots from set-pieces, second only to the 12 of West Brom.

Rodriguez takes his place in a 3-4-3 Scout Selection formation, with Kevin De Bruyne (£11.6m) handed the armband and Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) chosen as the vice-captain.

Nick Pope (BUR) £5.5m

A visit from Southampton gives the Burnley goalkeeper the chance to claim his first shutout of the season. At home in 2019/20, Pope’s eight clean sheets placed second only to the nine of Ederson (£6.0m) among goalkeepers in FPL.

Reece James (CHE) £5.1m

The Chelsea defender’s goal and assist at Brighton & Hove Albion in Gameweek 1 highlighted his attacking potential. James can bring in another big haul as the Blues make their way to West Brom.

Andrew Robertson (LIV) £7.0m

The Liverpool full-back offers multiple routes to points at home against Arsenal. Robertson has already claimed an assist and clean sheet in his first two outings of 2020/21.

Romain Saiss (WOL) £5.1m

The Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back can deliver points at both ends of the pitch at West Ham United. Saiss has produced three shots in the box in the first two Gameweeks, joint-top among defenders.

Kevin De Bruyne (MCI) £11.6m

Manchester City’s playmaker welcomes Leicester City on the back of a 13-point haul in Gameweek 2. Playing as a No 10, De Bruyne created six chances and fired four shots on target against Wolves on Monday evening.

Raheem Sterling (MCI) £11.5m

A major differential for the armband, he is owned by fewer than six per cent of managers. Sterling has scored nine goals and supplied six assists in his last 10 Gameweek appearances.

Jack Grealish (AVL) £7.0m

Aston Villa’s playmaker has the creativity to pick apart a Fulham defence who have conceded seven goals in their first two matches. Grealish’s total of 91 key passes last season was second only to the 136 of De Bruyne in FPL.

James Rodriguez (EVE) £7.6m

The Colombian has soared to 23.5 per cent ownership, making him the fifth most-popular midfielder in FPL.

Timo Werner (CHE) £9.5m

Chelsea’s frontman can be among the top captain options at West Brom. The Baggies have conceded eight big chances, 24 shots in the box and 14 shots on target, all league-leading totals.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (FUL) £6.0m

A visit from Aston Villa hands the Fulham striker the chance to add to his two goals and 12 points against Leeds United in Gameweek 2. Villa were the only side who failed to keep a clean sheet away from home in 2019/20.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (EVE) £7.2m

The most-bought player in the Gameweek, he has scored four goals in the opening two Gameweeks. Calvert-Lewin’s aerial threat will be a major weapon for Everton at Selhurst Park.
