On this day in 2005, Edwin van der Sar signed for Manchester United where he became one of the most decorated goalkeepers in Premier League history.

The then 34-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Fulham and went on to win four PL Trophies as well as the Golden Glove award in 2008/09 after recording 21 clean sheets.

During that campaign, Van der Sar went 14 consecutive Premier League matches without conceding - a record that still stands to this day.

You can watch Van der Sar's best moments in the video above and find out what else happened on this day by going to the Premier League's new history section.

There you can also find retro club kits dating back to the competition's inaugural campaign and many other historical features, including past awards winners and reviews of every season.
