Carabao Cup: Two all-Premier League ties drawn in second round

The 11 Premier League clubs entering EFL competition's second round have found out who their opponents will be

The second round of the Carabao Cup will feature two all-Premier League ties, while Manchester United will travel to League Two club Grimsby Town, after the draw was made on Wednesday evening.

The 11 Premier League clubs who are not playing in UEFA competitions in 2025/26 enter at the second-round stage of the Football League's knockout tournament, also known as the EFL Cup, which involves all the 92 teams from England's top four divisions.

The two ties between teams from the top flight will be AFC Bournemouth hosting Brentford, while Wolverhampton Wanderers will play West Ham United at home in the week commencing 25 August.

Newcastle United, who ended a 56-year trophy drought when they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the EFL Cup final last season, are one of the nine Premier League sides in European action who enter at the third-round stage.

The second-round draw was regionalised between northern and southern sections. One-legged ties will take place in all rounds apart from the semi-finals.
