Newcastle United have completed the signing of German centre-back Malick Thiaw from AC Milan.
Thiaw, 24, is Newcastle's third addition of the summer transfer window, following winger Antonio Cordero's move from Malaga and Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
"I'm really excited to join this massive club. I can't wait to start training and to get to know my new teammates and all the staff," Thiaw told the club's official website.
"The gaffer showed me his vision and what he wants to do with me as a player and the club itself, which is really exciting.
"I think Newcastle speaks for itself. It's a great club, a big club with passionate fans who I can't wait to see at St. James' Park."
Thiaw’s career so far
Thiaw was born on 8 August 2001 in Dusseldorf, Germany to a Senegalese father and Finnish mother.
He began his youth career with Fortuna Dusseldorf before spells at Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach, eventually joining Schalke 04’s academy in 2015.
Thiaw made his senior debut for Schalke in March 2020 and quickly became a regular.
In August 2022, he moved to AC Milan and has gone on to make 83 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.
At international level, the 6ft 4in defender has represented Germany three times, with those caps all coming in 2023.
When could Thiaw make his debut for Newcastle?
Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign on Saturday 16 August at Aston Villa.
