Aston Villa v Chelsea predicted line-ups

Aston Villa: John McGinn, who has been out with a knee injury since a defeat to Everton in January, had raised hopes he might be back to face Chelsea but Unai Emery confirmed “he is not available”. On loan Harvey Elliott is also not quite fit enough yet. The Aston Villa manager will likely make changes to the surprise defeat against Wolves as he tries to revive form to stay in the top four.

Chelsea: As one suspended player (Wesley Fofana) returns, another departs (Pedro Neto) – such is Chelsea’s disciplinary record this season. Liam Rosenior confirmed Cole Palmer went off with “a knock” against Arsenal, but is “absolutely fine to start”. Marc Cucurella might be available, but the weekend looks more likely. Malo Gusto may well be recalled in either full-back position, while Alejandro Garnacho appears in pole position to replace Neto. Romeo Lavia received his first minutes for many months on Sunday, but it would be a surprise to see him push to start so quickly after.

Brighton v Arsenal predicted line-ups

Brighton: Yasin Ayari, on the January EA SPORTS Player of the Month shortlist, has missed the last four games with a shoulder injury but is back in contention to start, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler revealed in his press conference. Beyond Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas, out long-term, the Swede was Brighton’s only injury concern. Hurzeler’s side were unchanged in their last two matches – winning both – but he will probably need to tinker with his line-up to rest players, which might see Carlos Baleba reintroduced into central midfield.

Arsenal: Mikel Arteta is hopeful Declan Rice will be fit to start against Brighton after the midfielder was forced off against Chelsea, suggesting he is getting “better” every day. David Raya was struggling with “niggles” but has been cleared to play. But Martin Odegaard is not expected to start. The Norwegian missed the last game with a knee problem. It means Eberechi Eze is likely to keep the No 10 spot. Kai Havertz is also a doubt, although he was able to complete part of a training session. There was a chance Ben White could return to the squad but he is not yet ready.

Fulham v West Ham predicted line-ups

Fulham: Marco Silva could be without in-form forward Harry Wilson who has injured his ankle. It is not too serious – Wilson complained about the issue at half-time of the Spurs game and he was able to continue before being substituted, but Silva will make a late call. Samuel Chukwueze is poised to replace him. Joachim Andersen missed the last game through illness and the Fulham manager will also give him a final assessment before the game. Issa Diop could continue in his place. Kevin underwent surgery on Monday and could be out for the remainder of the season.

West Ham: West Ham continue to put in encouraging performances despite defeat at Liverpool, and Nuno Espirito Santo has no fresh injury concerns to worry about so will want to keep things as similar as possible, pending any fitness issues. Adama Traore comes up against his former club, but is yet to start a league game for West Ham.

Man City v Nottingham Forest predicted line-ups

Man City: Erling Haaland and Nico O’Reilly are doubts to face Nottingham Forest. Haaland missed Man City’s last game with an unspecified “knock”, while O’Reilly came off with an ankle problem. Man City manager Pep Guardiola said they will both be assessed in training ahead of the match. Guardiola often prefers the partnership of Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush up front when Haaland is unavailable, while Phil Foden might replace O’Reilly. Guardiola is expected to play the same back four that has started in Man City’s last three Premier League games and been breached only once.

Nottingham Forest: Matz Sels returned at the opportune time in Sunday’s defeat at Brighton, with Stefan Ortega ruled out of the game through injury. A lack of goals continues to hinder Forest, so there could be attacking changes made, with Dan Ndoye and Nicolas Dominguez entering the equation if Vitor Pereira wants to freshen things up.

Newcastle v Man Utd predicted line-ups

Newcastle: Eddie Howe said there is “an illness in the squad” after Jacob Ramsey came off sick against Everton. Nick Woltemade has caught the bug and is a major doubt. He has not been able to train since the defeat, but Howe will assess him closer to kick off. Ramsey, however, has recovered and is in contention. Tino Livramento is close to a return but “this game possibly comes too soon for him”. Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar remain out.

Man Utd: Benjamin Sesko, predominantly utilised from the bench, will surely be handed a second successive start after scoring the winner against Crystal Palace. Manchester United manager Michael Carrick will make a late call on the fitness of Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, although he is hopeful they can play. The defenders have been struggling with illness. “We’ve still got a bit of time to the game so we’ll see how they feel,” Carrick said. "It wasn’t injury, both weren’t feeling too good.” Mason Mount is pushing for a return, but Lisandro Martinez remains out.

Spurs v Crystal Palace predicted line-ups

Spurs: Tottenham Hotspur have a raft of long-term absentees, making manager Igor Tudor’s task of steering them away from the bottom three that much harder. The Spurs manager could well drop his 4-4-2 experiment that backfired against Fulham. Kevin Danso came on in that game for his first minutes in a month and should be ready to start against Crystal Palace. Richarlison is also in contention for a place in the starting XI after he scored shortly after coming on against Fulham.

Crystal Palace: Maxence Lacroix is suspended after being shown a straight red card against Manchester United. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that either Chadi Riad or Nathaniel Clyne will deputise for the Frenchman. Striker Jean-Phillippe Mateta is in the final stages of his rehabilitation for a knee injury, but this match will come too soon. Glasner does, however, have plenty of attacking midfield options and it will be a tight call between Evann Guessand and former Spurs winger Brennan Johnson to accompany Ismaila Sarr behind striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
