In Colombia, football isn’t just watched — it’s felt.
It lives in the streets, in families, in the stories passed down from one generation to the next.
For many, it’s the dream of a lifetime.
For others, it’s the memory of what they once hoped to become.
But for everyone, it’s identity.
In this episode, we share the story of two Colombians: one who lived his dream, and another who, even without reaching the top of the game, found a way to keep his passion alive wherever life took him.
One of them is Sergio Delgado, a Colombian now living in Fort Worth, Texas. Every day, football is there — steady, familiar, always by his side. He carries this passion thousands of miles away from his beloved Bogotá in a simple but powerful way:
“I’ve played football my whole life. Football is home for me — the place where I can truly be myself.”
For Sergio, football is more than a passion.
It’s a ritual, a small piece of his childhood in Colombia that he brought with him. His children grew up listening to him talk about the game, feeling the love he carries for it. And today, football has also become their way of adjusting to this new life in the United States.
It’s their shared language.
On the other side of the story is Juan Pablo Angel, the striker who lit up the Premier League with Aston Villa for six unforgettable seasons. With the support of his family and an enormous amount of work, he turned his dreams into reality — dreams so big that, as he says, he couldn’t even imagine them when he was a kid.
A similar story is lived by Daniel Munoz, a key figure in this current Crystal Palace side. Born in Amalfi, Colombia, he tells us that his family lives football with passion, with craziness, with love — because for them, football simply gave them everything.
For Colombians, family means everything.
It’s the foundation, the support, the driving force behind every dream. And there’s no stronger ritual than watching football together… a ritual repeated by thousands every weekend as they follow the Premier League.
“Football is part of my life.” Anyone in Colombia could say it.
Many dream of playing in the first division, defending the colours of their beloved club, and wearing the national team jersey. And Juan Pablo Angel is one of the few who made that dream come true. That’s why he’s an example for so many children who dream of becoming the next “Angel del Gol”, carrying Colombian pride into the Premier League.
Episode 2 of Futbol Legacy leaves us with a simple but powerful truth:
Dreams are easier to reach when passion leads the way.
And when the journey gets difficult, family is there — to steady you, to push you, to remind you why you started.
Because in the end, dreams are meant to be fulfilled.
And football reminds us of that.
