Fulham end losing run with victory over 10-man Wolves

Marco Silva's side enjoy 3-0 success at Craven Cottage after four straight defeats, while Wolves are still winless

Fulham ended a run of four straight Premier League defeats with a convincing 3-0 victory over 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers, who remain winless after 10 games.

Marco Silva's hosts made a flying start at Craven Cottage as Ryan Sessegnon struck in the ninth minute.

Wolves' task was made more difficult when Emmanuel Agbadou received a straight red card for a last-man foul late in the first half, and Harry Wilson got Fulham's second goal shortly after the hour mark.

Yerson Mosquera's own goal then compounded the misery for under-pressure Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, with his team having just two points on the board.

Still rooted to the bottom of the table, they are already eight points adrift of 17th-placed Burnley, while Fulham climb to 14th.

How the match unfolded

Fulham took the lead from their first opportunity of the match, as Sessegnon steered past Sam Johnstone after being played clean through by Raul Jimenez, who had profited from a mistimed slide from Santiago Bueno.

Things got worse for Wolves after 36 minutes, as Agbadou was sent off for clattering Josh King as the last man, with John Brooks' on-field decision standing after a VAR check for a possible handball by the Fulham youngster.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Wolves went close to finding an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, as Jorgen Strand Larsen just failed to slide Ki-Jana Hoever’s cross home.

Johnstone was called upon early in the second half to steer away a swerving effort by Kenny Tete, but Fulham's pressure soon told as Wilson stroked an effort into the far corner to virtually end the match as a contest.

There was time for another goal for the hosts, too, as Wolves defender Mosquera bundled the ball into his own net after failing to deal with a cross from Sessegnon in the 75th minute.

Fulham back on track

Last week's 2-1 loss at Newcastle United was Fulham's fourth in a row in the Premier League, and they entered this contest teetering just three points above the relegation zone.

Club-record signing Kevin was handed a maiden league start and his first contribution was an excellent block as he aided his side defensively, but the Brazilian had limited opportunities to affect the game going forward in the first half.

Fulham still managed an early goal, however, as Jimenez cut open the Wolves defence to find Sessegnon, who swept home for his second Premier League goal of the campaign.

There was more fluency in Fulham's offensive play during the second half, after they were aided by Agbadou's red card. Tete became more of a threat with his overlapping runs from right-back, while Kevin was also more direct on the left flank.

Wilson also contributed with a well-taken goal and Fulham created opportunities at will towards the end of the match, with the Welshman going close to scoring again before substitute Samuel Chukwueze rattled the crossbar from close range.

With their confidence restored following a comprehensive win, Fulham travel to face Everton next weekend in their final match before the last international break of the year.

Winless Wolves reach new low

Molineux was host to a mutinous atmosphere last week after Wolves conceded a late goal to lose 3-2 to Burnley, and the mood barely improved in midweek as they were eliminated from the EFL Cup, despite a battling performance against Chelsea.

The visitors did show some early promise against Fulham, with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde finding space in between the lines and working the hosts' goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

However, Wolves' defensive frailties returned soon after as Bueno sloppily gifted the ball to Fulham, and that led to Pereira's side going behind early on for the fourth match in succession.

The game was virtually over as a contest once Agbadou was given his marching orders following a clumsy challenge on King, as Wolves made an unwanted piece of history.

No side in English top-flight history had failed to win their first 10 games in back-to-back campaigns until now, and Wolves already need a remarkable turnaround if they are to avoid relegation.

In the second half, Wolves' travelling fans amused themselves with chants recalling their heroes of the past, including Ruben Neves and Jimenez. In the present, things do not get much easier as they visit Chelsea next weekend.

What the managers said

Marco Silva: "It was a very important win for us. We want to make this place our fortress. We spoke before the game about why it's going to be important to keep a clean sheet. The red card [for Wolves] made a massive impact and in the second half we were better than the first."

Key facts

Fulham have won back-to-back Premier League games against Wolves for the very first time, with the Cottagers having won just one of the previous nine meetings in the top-flight (D3 L5).

Wolves have failed to win any of their opening 10 league games in both of their last two seasons (D2 L8 this season and D3 L7 in 2024/25), as many times as in their 125 previous campaigns in the top four tiers (1926/27 and 1983/84).

Fulham have benefited from three own goals in the Premier League this season, the most of any side in the division. Indeed, the Cottagers last had more across a single season in the competition in 2012/13 (five).

Wolves are the third side in Premier League history to concede 20+ goals in their opening 10 games in consecutive seasons (27 in 2024/25, 20 in 2025/26), along with Southampton in 1998/99 (23) and 1999/00 (21) and Bournemouth in 2022/23 (22) and 2023/24 (21).
