Eight young players have been nominated for the Premier League 2 (PL2) Player of the Month award for August 2025.
The nominees have been selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel, who will also decide the winner, with the result being announced later this week.

Why the players were nominated
Mirsad Ali (Leicester City): Ali delivered several commanding performances across Leicester's defence, operating brilliantly at left-back and centre-back. The Foxes conceded two goals in a 4-2 win against Liverpool, but the 19-year-old would go on to help his side keep back-to-back clean sheets and maintain their unbeaten start.
Harry Gray (Leeds United): The 16-year-old forward scored four times across Leeds' three matches in August. He began with a brace in a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa, then netted the opener in a 3-2 loss against Ipswich Town and finished the month with a goal and assist in a 2-1 win at Burnley. Gray led the way for PL2 goal involvements in August with five.
Kevon Gray (Leicester City): Alongside his fellow centre-back and PL2 nominee, Ali, Gray was a key reason for Leicester's consecutive clean sheets last month and helping the Foxes remain unbeaten.
Shumaira Mheuka (Chelsea): Mheuka's standout performance in an impressive month for Chelsea came in their opening match of the season when he netted a hat-trick against Manchester City in a 3-1 win. He was on target once more in the following fixture, a 5-0 win at Newcastle United which put the Blues top of the table with a 100-per-cent record.
Shane Nti (Brighton & Hove Albion): Nti has started the new season with a bang. After scoring the winner away to Aldershot in the National League Cup, he struck a hat-trick and created another as Brighton beat West Bromwich Albion 4-0.
Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny (Tottenham Hotspur): The 19-year-old midfielder began the season with two assists in a thrilling 5-3 win at Sunderland. Despite a 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace in their next match, Russell-Denny helped Spurs bounce back with a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, creating the only goal of the match with a pinpoint pass for Yusuf Akhamrich to fire in.
Charles Sagoe Jr (Arsenal): Despite a mixed start to the season for Arsenal's youngsters, Sagoe Jr has enjoyed an excellent month which began with a goal in a 3-2 loss to Fulham. The 21-year-old then scored and assisted to salvage a draw with Nottingham Forest and created the winner for Sebastian Ferdinand in a 1-0 victory over Brighton.
Charlie Tasker (Brighton): The right-back shone at both ends of the pitch during August, providing three assists and keeping two clean sheets in successive 4-0 wins over West Brom and Blackburn Rovers.
