As the first four player prices are revealed in Fantasy Premier League, The Scout looks at players who had an underwhelming 2024/25 season and could fall in price ahead of the launch of 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League.
Managers in Fantasy Premier League will be looking for great value picks when building their squads for the 2025/26 campaign. There are a number of players who didn't live up to their returns from the 2023/24 campaign last season, but could score well in FPL again this season.
Erling Haaland is likely to drop from last season’s price of £15.0m, having achieved 181 points in 2024/25, marking the lowest total in his three seasons at Manchester City.
However, the Norwegian still netted 22 goals, the most of any player except Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak.
He only appeared in 31 Premier League matches, too.
Nevertheless, following a season in which Haaland averaged only 5.8 points per start, he will surely fall in price.
A drop to around £14.0m would certainly lift his appeal, particularly with new signing Rayan Cherki adding further creativity to Pep Guardiola’s attack.
Haaland’s team-mate Phil Foden is also unlikely to be as expensive as his starting cost of £9.5m from the last campaign.
The England international was limited to just 20 starts and managed only 105 points over the season, less than half his tally of 230 points in 2023/24.
However, Foden emerged from this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup as Man City’s joint-top goalscorer (three), while his minutes per shot average (18.6) was second only to Haaland (17.1) in Guardiola’s squad.
If he can get back to his best, Foden will have a big part to play in 2025/26.
Martin Odegaard is another midfielder who could be cheaper in Fantasy this time around.
After two excellent campaigns in which he racked up a combined 23 goals, 18 assists and 398 points, the playmaker was handed an opening price of £8.5m last season.
But he mostly struggled to justify that valuation, scoring just three times and averaging 4.1 points per start.
The arrival of precise passer Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad bodes well for his prospects, though, as Odegaard should not be required to drop deep quite so often next season. This was a responsibility he often assumed during 2024/25 to assist Arsenal in their build-up play from the back.
There would also be no surprise if Anthony Gordon dropped from his cost of £7.5m.
Six goals and five assists earned the Newcastle United winger 124 points last time out, fewer than team-mates Jacob Murphy, Bruno Guimaraes and Harvey Barnes.
A price of £7.0m could prove tempting for many managers, particularly those who remember his exploits in the 2023/24 campaign, when he racked up a superb 183 points.
Elsewhere, in defence, Pedro Porro could revive his Fantasy potential under new head coach Thomas Frank.
The Spaniard produced only 98 points in 2024/25, as Tottenham Hotspur shifted their focus towards the UEFA Europa League.
Porro still served up eight attacking returns, however.
Given that Frank asks his teams to put lots of crosses into the box, Porro has the potential to excel: The Spaniard completed 60 successful crosses in the Premier League last season, easily the most of any Spurs player.
A drop in price to £5.0m (from £5.5m) would suggest Porro can stake a claim for our opening squads, with Spurs at home to newly-promoted Burnley in Gameweek 1.
