Arsenal have completed the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old Spain international, who will wear the No 36 shirt, has become Mikel Arteta’s second addition of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, as the Gunners bolster their midfield following the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.
“Once I made the decision to leave, I set my sights on Arsenal because I think their style of play is a good fit for me,” Zubimendi told the club's official website.
“It’s a young, highly motivated and ambitious team. They have shown their potential recently, and I believe the best is yet to come. As soon as you set foot here, you realise how big this club and this team are. Andrea [Berta] and Mikel [Arteta] took excellent care of me, leaving me with no doubts whatsoever."

Zubimendi's career so far
Zubimendi was born in San Sebastian, Spain on 2 February 1999 and has spent his entire career to date with Sociedad.
In 2019, he made his first-team debut, and ended the season by winning the Copa del Rey. Zubimendi went on to make over 200 appearances for the club.
Zubimendi is also a key member of the Spain national side, having earned 17 caps in four years. He won his first international honour in 2023 by winning the UEFA Nations League.
The crowning moment of his career so far came last summer as Spain triumphed in the 2024 UEFA European Championship final. The midfielder was introduced as a half-time substitute for injured Manchester City player Rodri, and helped his team to a 2-1 triumph over England.
When could Zubimendi first play for Arsenal?
Zubimendi's first match in Arsenal colours could come against AC Milan in pre-season on 23 July.
Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign away to Manchester United on Sunday 17 August.
