Man Utd sign Brentford forward Mbeumo

The 25-year-old Cameroon international becomes Ruben Amorim's third summer signing

Manchester United have signed forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford on a five-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international is the third summer arrival at Old Trafford, following the addition of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Paraguayan full-back Diego Leon.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo said in his first Man Utd interview.

Mbeumo joins as Man Utd fly out to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series, where they will be playing AFC Bournemouth, Everton and West Ham United starting on Sunday.

Mbeumo's career so far

Mbeumo was born in Avallon, France, on 7 August 1999.

A product of Troyes’ academy, he graduated to the club's first team after impressing in the youth side. He scored twice as the Under-19 side won the Coupe Gambardella in 2018.

The following campaign, Mbeumo scored 12 times in his first season in senior football. His performances alerted the attention of Brentford who committed a club-record fee, reported to be £5.8million, to sign him in the summer of 2019.

Mbeumo's goals helped the Bees to reach the Championship playoff final in his first season, but they lost to Fulham. In his second campaign, Brentford got to the playoff final again and this time beat Swansea City to reach the Premier League for the first time.

In his first top-flight season in 2021/22, Mbeumo produced four goals and seven assists, and more was to come in 2022/23, when the forward recorded a total of 17 goal contributions (nine goals and eight assists).

Mbeumo netted another nine Premier League goals, and assisted seven, in 2023/24, but that was nothing compared to the stats he posted in 2024/25, when he scored 20 times and set up eight goals.
