Erling Haaland has been voted the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for August 2024 after an historic start to the season with Manchester City.

Haaland wins the award after scoring seven goals in three appearances, the most a player has ever netted in a team's first three Premier League fixtures of a campaign.

The striker's goals included successive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United, as well as a goal at Chelsea to help Man City start the season with three wins from three matches.

He became the first player to score a hat-trick in two of a team's first three league matches in a season since Paul Jewell did so for Bradford City in League Two in 1994/95.

'Seven goals great but I want to improve'

“I am delighted to have won this award so early in the season. I am also very grateful to my team-mates, the coaches and staff for helping to make it happen," Haaland told Man City's official website.

“August was a brilliant month for the team, and I am proud to have played an important part in that. To have scored seven goals last month in three matches is great, but I will continue to work hard and improve my game."

The 24-year-old Norwegian claims the prize for the third time, having also won it in August 2022 and April 2023.

Haaland topped an eight-man shortlist after the public's votes on the EA SPORTS website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.

He will look to add to his seven goals for the season when Man City return to Premier League action at home to Brentford on Saturday at 15:00 BST.

Fabian Hurzeler has been named the Barclays Manager of the Month for August after overseeing Brighton & Hove Albion's unbeaten start to 2024/25.

Brighton ended August second in the Premier League table after two wins and a draw from their opening three matches. They won 3-0 at Everton, beat Manchester United 2-1, and drew 1-1 at Arsenal.

"It's always a nice trophy [to win] as it confirms your work. Not only my work but the work from the whole club, my staff members, the players," Hurzeler said.

"It's togetherness to win this trophy. Now it's about winning the next one!"

Hurzeler, 31, is the youngest permanent head coach in Premier League history and is also the youngest to win a Manager of the Month award.

Furthermore, he is the first manager to win a Manager of the Month award in his first month in the Premier League since Ange Postecoglou achieved the feat with Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023.

He is also the first Brighton head coach to claim the honour since Chris Hughton won February 2018's award.

Cole Palmer's superb lob for Chelsea against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been voted August 2024's Guinness Goal of the Month.

Palmer scored with a looping first-time effort from outside the box, catching Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa off his goalline. It meant Chelsea went from a goal-kick to a goal in less than 10 seconds, after their 'keeper Robert Sanchez's long pass was flicked by Nicolas Jackson to Palmer to score.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has won August 2024's Premier League Save of the Month award for his stunning stop against Aston Villa

Raya pulled off an incredible save to deny Ollie Watkins from close range.

The Arsenal goalkeeper was on the floor and behind his goalline after falling backwards in an attempt to save a deflected Amadou Onana shot that ended up hitting the crossbar.

Watkins followed up and looked certain to score, but somehow Raya got up and dived forward and to his left to keep out the striker's header before it crossed the line.

It proved crucial as it was at 0-0 of a match Arsenal went on to win 2-0.

Raya's save
'It's not my best save'

"Of what I remember, it's a shot from outside the box. I'm on the floor so I try to get up and I can't reach it," Raya recalled. "I just see Ollie going in there so I react as quickly as possible I put my hand there and there's no one there to get the ball.

"It's just a repetition of things. You do drills and have to save one ball and get up to save another. This time it paid off. This is a reaction one, I don't think it's my best save."

Raya, August Save of the Month

The 28-year-old is the first Arsenal goalkeeper to win the monthly award since Aaron Ramsdale did so in April 2023 for his stop against Liverpool's Mohamed Salah. It is Raya's first Premier League monthly award win.

Raya's save topped a shortlist of six of the best saves across the month. Raya was the only goalkeeper to be nominated twice, as his stop to deny Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jorgen Strand Larsen was also in contention.

He wins the award after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.
