Nicolas Otamendi (£5.8m) is now the top-scoring defender in Fantasy Premier League, with his passing ability playing a key role in his rise.

The Manchester City centre-back headed a second goal of the campaign in the 3-0 win over Burnley, helping him earn maximum three bonus points.

The Argentinian scored 38 in the Bonus Points System (BPS), bettering fellow goalscorers Sergio Aguero (£11.6m) and Leroy Sane (£8.6m).

It was Otamendi’s fourth 30+ BPS tally of the season.

His passing ability has been a major factor behind those scores: no Premier League player has made more successful passes than him (710) this season.

Players earn two, four and six points in the BPS when making more than 30 passes, depending on their completion rate.

Otamendi boasts an average rate of 91.9% which has earned him 50 points in the BPS from pass completion, more than any other player.
