Maheta Molango

Chief Executive Officer, Professional Footballers' Association

Maheta is the Chief Executive of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA).

A former professional footballer, he began his football career in 2001 at Atletico Madrid before moving to England to sign with Brighton and Hove Albion in 2004. This was followed by spells at Lincoln City, Oldham Athletic and AFC Wrexham.

Following the end of his playing career, Maheta became a labour lawyer working on football issues.

During periods at law firm Baker McKenzie and as legal counsel at Atletico Madrid, Maheta worked on representation agreements, contract and transfer negotiations for global stars such as Antoine Griezmann and Mesut Ozil.

In 2016, Maheta was appointed as CEO of RCD Mallorca following a takeover by former NBA player Steve Nash, and Phoenix Suns' owner, Robert Sarver.

Fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian and German, Maheta was twice named one of the best sports lawyers in Spain by international rankings company Chambers and Partners.

Maheta's playing career, combined with his experience in law, club management and union leadership, gives him a unique perspective on all levels of football and the relationship between the game, players and their communities.

Maheta joined the PLCF Board of Trustees in 2022.
