Ahead of Remembrance Weekend, when the 100-year anniversary of the World War One Armistice will be commemorated, Premier League clubs have been planting trees in tribute to their players who went to serve their country in the conflict and never returned.

At the Liverpool FC Academy seven trees were planted this week to represent the seven players from the club who lost their lives in the Great War.

The campaign has been organised in partnership with the Woodland Trust and National Football Museum’s "For Club and Country" project, the Premier League, The FA, the Football League and the Professional Footballers’ Association.

It forms part of the national "Football Remembers" campaign, which honours the footballers who joined up and went off to war.
