More than a million Fantasy Premier League managers will be hoping they can steal a march on their rivals following their decision to captain Bukayo Saka (£10.5m) in Double Gameweek 33 (DGW33).
Ahead of Arsenal's meeting with Crystal Palace on Wednesday, Saka's main rivals for the armband have all blanked.
DGW33 most-captained active players
Player | Captained by | Pts |
Salah | 3,310,646 | 3 |
---|---|---|
Marmoush | 1,530,356 | 4 |
Saka | 1,029,005 | 2 |
Isak | 768,067 | 2 |
Palmer | 450,025 | 2 |
Encouragingly for Saka's backers, the England international racked up an impressive Expected Goal Involvement (xGI) total of 1.39 in his first outing of DGW33, a 4-0 win over Ipswich Town. Despite emerging with a single point, it suggests that, on another day, he would have had something to show for his three shots and five chances created.
He now faces one of his favourite foes in Fantasy, having produced a career-high 18 points against Palace in Gameweek 28 of the 2022/23 campaign, registering two goals, an assist and maximum bonus.
Saka's backers will be looking to avoid the fate of those who captained Omar Marmoush (£7.7m).
Hopes were high heading into DGW33 with the Egyptian having scored in three of his previous four matches, and Manchester City also playing twice. It was enough to make Marmoush the most-Triple Captained player of the round.
In the end, Man City scored a combined four goals against Everton and Aston Villa but Marmoush wasn't involved in any of the goals, suffering back-to-back blanks.

Single-Gameweek disappointment
Mohamed Salah (£13.8m), the top captain pick for the 20th time this season, had seven shots in Liverpool's 1-0 win at Leicester City, but failed to find the back of the net.
The Egyptian has managed only one assist and 14 points over his last four matches.
Cole Palmer's (£10.6m) wretched form continued in Chelsea 2-1 win over local rivals Fulham; it's now 11 appearances without a goal.
He's been shipped out by more than 3.6m Fantasy bosses since Gameweek 29, a trend that looks set to continue, with only one of Chelsea's remaining five matches rated at two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR).
Alexander Isak (£9.5m), meanwhile, blanked in Newcastle United's 4-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
The Swede has an opportunity to immediately bounce back, with the Magpies at home to struggling Ipswich Town in Blank Gameweek 34.
