Crystal Palace v Man Utd

Arsenal may have scored the most goals this season but Liverpool are the leading shot-takers. The Reds’ total of 715 efforts is 94 more than the next-best team, Man City, have managed.

FPL Challenge managers will get to see the teamsheet before committing to their Liverpool picks, thanks to the 16:30 BST deadline. If Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) and Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) are back in the starting XI after their GW35 benchings, they’ll be hard to resist.

Salah and Nunez are first in their respective Fantasy positions for shots taken in 2023/24. Each of them has hit a century for goal attempts, with Salah being the only midfielder to do so.

The fixture at Anfield against Tottenham Hotspur screams goals, so ordinarily you may decide to give the defences a wide berth.

However, Pedro Porro (£5.8m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.6m) are the top two defenders for shots taken this season - so there is some logic to selecting them for this week’s FPL Challenge. Just note that Van Dijk is an injury so, again, check the teamsheet.

In the Monday fixture, Crystal Palace are facing a Manchester United side that have conceded 133 shots in their last six matches. That’s more than any other side in the division.

The Eagles’ in-form trio of Eberechi Eze (£6.0m), Michael Olise (£5.6m) and Jean-Philippe Mateta (£5.1m) are worth thinking about, then.

As for Man Utd themselves, Alejandro Garnacho’s (£5.0m) minutes-per-shot average of 26.1 is better than those of Saka, Foden and De Bruyne.
