Leicester City have secured automatic promotion to the Premier League for the 2024/25 season after a one-year absence.

Enzo Maresca's side's place in next season's top flight was confirmed on Friday night, following Leeds United's 4-0 defeat by Queens Park Rangers.

Championship table
Club P W D L GD Pts
Leicester (P) 44 30 4 10 +47 94
Leeds 45 27 9 9 +39 90
Ipswich Town 43 26 11 6 +32 89
Southampton 44 25 9 10 +24 84

It is a first-time return to the Premier League for Leicester, having been relegated in 2022/23.

They have now earned promotion to the Premier League five times, a joint-record along with Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds, who were relegated with Leicester last season, now have to hope that nearest rivals Ipswich Town slip up in the fight for the second automatic promotion place. Southampton have a mathematical chance also to seal an immediate return but it is remote.

The 2024/25 season will be the Foxes' 18th in the Premier League.

Their highest finish came in 2015/16, when they won the Premier League title, finishing 10 points clear under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri.

Jamie Vardy, who struck 24 times during that historic campaign, has again played a key role this season, netting 16 goals in the Championship, along with two assists.

Leicester will discover their fixtures for the new season when the 2024/25 Premier League schedule is released at 09:00 BST on Tuesday 18 June. The campaign starts on 17 August.
