Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29) of 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League will live long in the memory of millions of managers, but for all the wrong reasons.

An average of only 12 points makes it the worst Gameweek on record in Fantasy, surpassing the previous low of 19 points from Gameweek 28 in 2016/17.

It proved a chastening experience, in particular for the record-breaking 1.7million managers who played their Free Hit chip for the heavily-reduced round of matches.

On the upside, those managers have already got rid of their under-performers due to the temporary nature of the Free Hit chip.

Those who used only transfers to deal with the reduced round of matches didn't fare any better.

As many as eight players were bought by over 1m managers for BGW29, with a huge 2.1m bringing in Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min (£10.1m) for his match at Fulham.

But while the South Korean blanked, the Cottagers proved to be the best investments for BGW29 by supplying three of the four players who managed double-figure hauls.

Rodrigo Muniz (£4.6m) was the star performer, scoring twice to claim 13 points, his third double-figure return across his last six matches.

Full-backs Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson (both £4.5m) each combined an assist with a clean sheet in the 3-0 win, as Spurs picked the most inopportune time possible to record their first-ever blank in a Premier League match under Ange Postecoglou.

FPL managers' woes

This FPL manager took a 32-point hit, but only scored 30 points.

Points left on the bench were a theme of BGW29.

With no attacking or defensive returns, it was a Gameweek to forget for this manager.
