Chelsea lift the Summer Series trophy

Mauricio Pochettino is delighted with his Chelsea players after they won the inaugural Premier League Summer Series on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Fulham in Landover, Maryland, but has not ruled out making further additions to his squad.

Pochettino has praised the work ethic of his players who seem to have quickly taken to his coaching. Indeed, his team scored seven goals and went unbeaten across three matches in the tournament, as well as beating Wrexham in North Carolina before the Summer Series.

"Always its good to win. I'm so pleased again with the performance and work of the players [and] the staff," Pochettino said.

"It's a busy time but we are doing a good job and congratulations to the players and the staff because it's never easy [to play] four games in a short period of time and now we need to play in Chicago against [Borussia] Dortmund.

"We need to continue and prepare the team in the best condition for the start of the Premier [League]."

Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 13 August, and Pochettino must soon work out his best starting XI having experimented with his squad in the United States.

Two players who impressed him, though, were new signings Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. Nkunku has already scored three pre-season goals, while Jackson finished the Summer Series with two goals and two assists.

Pochettino says the Summer Series proved the two can play together as an attacking duo but that he would welcome further reinforcements.

"We are working hard trying to create this dynamic that will become natural," he added. "It is good that they feel well, already part of the team and the group. It is important because you need to start the Premier League in good condition and to fight with each other.

"Today we were happy with the performance and they can complement [each other] very well.

"If the club can add some different profiles to help us we are open but I am so happy with both.

"Armando Broja is in the UK still recovering from a procedure. We need analyse now in the next weeks until the end of the transfer window to take a decision for the team."
