Joelinton has scored four of his six goals this season, and also supplied two assists, across his previous seven appearances.

The midfielder has amassed 46 points since he returned to the Magpies’ first XI in the second match of their Double Gameweek 29 against West Ham United.

That total places second among team-mates, bettered only by the 50 of Callum Wilson (£7.1m).

The underlying numbers also highlight Joelinton’s strong goal threat.

His totals of 15 shots and 11 shots inside the box in the last four matches both ranked among his side’s top four players.

Meanwhile, his total of seven shots on target was more than any other Newcastle midfielder, pushed into third by the 10 and eight of forwards Wilson and Alexander Isak (£7.0m) respectively.

Despite their weekend loss to Arsenal, faith in the Newcastle attack remains high for their matches with Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Prior to their defeat to Arsenal, Eddie Howe’s side had scored 13 goals in three matches.

Fragile opponents

Their pair of upcoming opponents have also struggled in defence.

Leeds have conceded 12 goals in their previous three matches at Elland Road, while Brighton have produced just two of their 11 clean sheets this season in away matches.

As an assured starter for Newcastle, Joelinton could prove a cut-price gem for Double Gameweek 36.
