Michail Antonio (£7.0million) did not endure the best of starts to 2016/17.

Utilised as a right-back in West Ham United's season opener at Chelsea, the midfielder suffered a torrid evening up against Eden Hazard (£10.2m) before being withdrawn just before the hour-mark.

The 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge proved a turning point for Slaven Bilic, though, persuading the Hammers manager to return Antonio to his preferred role on the wing for Gameweek 2.

Antonio immediately vindicated Bilic's decision by scoring the winner against AFC Bournemouth and followed that up with a consolation goal in the 3-1 loss at Manchester City.

Over the last two rounds of matches Antonio has registered 14 touches inside the box, five attempts on target and four efforts from inside the opposition box – the same amount as Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez (£11.0m).

With Alvaro Arbeloa (£5.0m) acquired on transfer deadline day, and Sam Byram (£4.5m) also on board, Bilic now has sufficient cover in defence to ensure that Antonio remains a prominent part of his attack ahead of a favourable run of matches.

According to the Fixture Difficulty Ranking (FDR), the Hammers register a score of two or less in the upcoming eight Gameweeks.

This hands them home encounters with Watford, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Stoke City, in addition to trips to West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.

Only a Gameweek 6 visit from Southampton and trip to Everton in Gameweek 10 are classed as tougher match-ups by the FDR.

Although Dimitri Payet (£9.4m) is the more popular pick with Fantasy Premier League managers, sitting in 13.8% of squads, the 5.3%-owned Antonio has the potential to offer excellent value.

Manchester City v West Ham United
The Scout believes Antonio could be a better pick for the coming Gameweeks than Dimitri Payet

He mirrored the Frenchman's 39 minutes per shot in 2015/16 and found the net every 269.5 minutes - quicker than Payet's 300.9 - in their debut seasons for the Hammers.

Although Antonio registered 126 points last term, it is worth bearing in mind he did not make an appearance until late November, going on to average 4.8 points per match.

After his first Premier League start under Bilic in Gameweek 16, the former Nottingham Forest winger has been named in the Hammers’ first XI in every subsequent fixture.

With Payet having only recently recovered from a thigh complaint, and both Andy Carroll (£6.3m) and Andre Ayew (£7.3m) sidelined through injury, Antonio is shaping up to be a key attacking figure over a potentially profitable run of fixtures.
