Mark Sutherns looks at why the Southampton striker's stats makes him a target for your forward line

With a 13-point haul against Arsenal under his belt, Southampton forward Danny Ings (£5.5m) is hot property in Fantasy Premier League.

He was the seventh most signed player in the week leading up to Gameweek 18 and has scored six goals and provided an assist in nine Premier League starts this season.

Southampton fixtures

And with an attractive price tag, FPL expert Mark Sutherns says he could be a value option over a busy Christmas period.

"He's on penalties, when he starts, he converts chances, I think he's been involved in 78 per cent of their goals when he's been on the pitch, so when he's on there, he's the key man for them," Sutherns says on the latest FPL Show.

"And, under the new manager, Southampton look likely to be a more attacking force."

One thing to be wary of, Sutherns explains, is two tricky fixtures that are looming over new year, against Manchester City and Chelsea.

"I think if you bring him in, you have him as your third striker and you have the option, then, to play two over him," he says.
