Junior Hoilett struck a spectacular winner as Cardiff City came from behind to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1.

The visitors took the lead on 18 minutes when Neil Etheridge palmed out Raul Jimenez’s header, only for Matt Doherty to pounce on the rebound.

Cardiff almost equalised in the 38th minute when Harry Arter let fly from the edge of the area with a shot that came back off the angle of post and crossbar.

The Bluebirds levelled on 65 minutes when Sean Morrison flicked on a high ball to Aron Gunnarson, who athletically volleyed the ball at chest height into the net.

The hosts then sealed their third win of the season when Hoilett curled a sumptuous first-time shot into the top corner from the left edge of the area.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock can celebrate his 70th birthday tomorrow with his side having jumped from 19th place to 15th, on 11 points.

Wolves’s fifth defeat in six matches leaves them 11th, on 16.
