When Victor Wanyama headed in the only goal in the win over Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane on Saturday, he not only secured Tottenham Hotspur their first three points of the season, but extended a record held by the north London club.

The midfielder’s first goal for Spurs made the Kenyan the 138th different player to score for them in the Premier League. This is the most variety of goalscorers for a team in the competition and extended Spurs’ lead over West Ham United to five.

Gordon Durie was the first off the mark in the competition for Spurs, also against Crystal Palace, and there is the possibility of new names on the scoresheet for Spurs this season with Kevin Wimmer, Ben Davies, Nabil Bentaleb, DeAndre Yedlin, Clinton N'Jie and Vincent Janssen yet to get a Premier League goal.

But an influx of new signings this summer by Slaven Bilic mean Spurs could be caught by their east London rivals before the end of the season.

Sogiane Feghouli, Havard Nordtveit, Gokhan Tore, Arthur Masuaku, Andre Ayew and Jonathan Calleri are among the players yet to get a league goal for West Ham.
