1994: Shay Given joins Blackburn Rovers

Shay Given’s performances for the Celtic youth team brought him to the attention of Blackburn Rovers manager Kenny Dalglish, who signed him at the start of the club’s title-winning season.

Given only made two top-flight appearances in his three seasons at Blackburn but went on to play a total of 451 Premier League matches over the course of two decades with Newcastle United, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Stoke City.

2011: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain signs for Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had just helped Southampton to win promotion from League One, joined Arsenal a few days before his 18th birthday.

At the end of his first Premier League season the teenager was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Oxlade-Chamberlain went on to spend six seasons at Emirates Stadium, making 132 Premier League appearances and scoring nine times.

He moved on to Liverpool in the summer of 2017.
