2007: Leighton Baines joins Everton

Left-back Leighton Baines joined Everton from Wigan Athletic.

He became an ever-present figure for the Toffees, playing every minute of the 2010/11 and 2012/13 Premier League campaigns and winning the club's Player of the Season award on both occasions.

Baines reached 99 consecutive top-flight appearances in April 2012 and was named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2011/12 and 2012/13 - the first Everton player to gain such recognition since 1990.

2012: Santi Cazorla signs for Arsenal

Santi Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga and enjoyed a fine start to life in the Premier League, appearing in all 38 matches in his first season and netting 12 top-flight goals.

Cazorla went on to make a total of 129 PL appearances for the Gunners, scoring 25 times and adding 35 assists, while winning the FA Cup in 2013/14 and 2014/15.

Knee and Achilles injuries limited his match time from November 2015 onwards, and he left Arsenal when his contract expired in the summer of 2018.
