2008: Crouch returns to Portsmouth

Peter Crouch was signed from Liverpool after agreeing to return for a second spell at Portsmouth.

The England international, who had played for Pompey in the Championship in the 2001/02 season, scored 11 goals for Harry Redknapp’s side.

The following summer Crouch re-joined Tottenham Hotspur, whom he helped qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The 6ft 7in striker subsequently spent seven seasons at Stoke City, scoring over 100 Premier League goals and setting a record for the most headed goals scored in the competition.

2013: Southampton sign Wanyama

Victor Wanyama became the first Kenyan to ever play in the Premier League after he completed his move to Southampton from Celtic.

The powerful defensive midfielder amassed 85 PL appearances in three years at St Mary’s Stadium before joining Tottenham Hotspur.
