Wayne Rooney’s spectacular overhead kick sealed a 2-1 derby victory for Manchester United over Manchester City.
Nani gave United the lead before David Silva equalised, and Old Trafford then watched in awe as Rooney leapt into the air and fired home acrobatically in the 78th minute.
By the end of the day, United were still four points ahead of Arsenal, while third-placed Man City slipped eight points behind their local rivals.
Peter Odemwingie hit a hat-trick as West Bromwich Albion won the Black Country derby in style.
Odemwingie gave the visitors the breakthrough in the 34th minute and, although Steven Fletcher equalised in first-half stoppage-time, Albion scored four times in the final 30 minutes.
Jonas Olsson made it 2-1 and Odemwingie then struck twice, either side of a Keith Andrews goal.
West Brom climbed into 14th spot, moving eight points clear of 18th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, who dropped into the bottom three on goal difference.
